It was in 1967 that Sammode perfected its iconic TFH hermetic fluorescent tube luminaire. This apparently simple design - a tube closed at both ends by a stainless steel cap - is in reality a technically sophisticated solution with its own instantly identifiable aesthetic. Fit for purpose and highly efficient, the product quickly gathered a cult following.

With nearly 50 years' experience of industrial lighting, Sammode is now making this expertise available to the domestic market, with the introduction of its special Sammode Studio range of timelessly stylish luminaires.

MAJOR PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Dominique Perrault's Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris and Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg, the Ray and Maria Stata Center at the Massachussetts Institute of Technology by Frank Gehry in Cambridge (USA), the Cité de la Voile Éric Tabarly museum of sailing in Lorient by Jacques Ferrier, the headquarters of Nestlé-France in Noisiel by Reichen & Robert, the Youth Centre at the Cochin Hospital in Paris and the André Malraux media library in Strasbourg by Jean-Marc Ibos and Myrto Vitart, the Mama Shelter hotel in Paris with interiors by Philippe Starck.... and the list goes on: every year, Sammode products light a very large number of public and private buildings, some of which have areas that require a more domestic ambience. Our luminaires provide exactly the right amount of lighting using sophisticated solutions with a strong and unique aesthetic identity.

DOMESTIC LIGHTING

Developed out of our architectural ranges, the Sammode Studio range has been designed and configured entirely for domestic applications. Some products in the range use grids or other forms of metallic mesh to accentuate their unique aesthetic. All combine simplicity with elegance and efficiency to create tangible feelings of safety and comfort. Acclaimed by construction professionals, the performance and strength of Sammode luminaires are interpreted in ways that favour comfort and mood. The intelligibility and immateriality of light are - of course - its inherent qualities. For Sammode, it is a material that gives space its density and depth. Our job is to dress and shape light. It is then up to you to install our products as and how you prefer. In the style of Mikado pick-up sticks like 10 Tubes de néon au hasard by French artist François Morellet, or perhaps in a more free and spatial configuration in the style of his Italian colleague Lucio Fontana, who created the series of pieces known as Ambiances spatiales.
