LIKE PASTOE, 100 years of design innovation
This year for Design September, Diito will have the honour to present a selection of the exhibition celebrating the 100th birthday of the Dutch company Pastoe. Since it's fouding in 1913, Pastoe has grown to become an internationally recognised design brand, characterised by simplicity, timelessness, quality and craftmanship.
The 'Like Pastoe – 100 years of design innovation' exhibition was inaugurated this spring at the Kunsthal Rotterdam by its curator, Anne van der Zwaag. The exhibition illustrates the rich history of the furniture collection and provides an overview of the unique collaboration between Pastoe and various architects, artists and designers. The exhibition has been organised around the following themes : ARCHIVES, ENVIRONMENTS and INNOVATION.
In the ARCHIVES theme, Krijn de Koning presents the history of Pastoe using a selection of furniture, exceptional designs, advertising material, sketches, photographs and publications.
The ENVIRONMENTS theme shows Pastoe's vision of the architectonic space. The exhibition presents environments in which living, working, learning and creating are defined in a new way.
The third theme, INNOVATION, highlights the search for new perspectives on product development and presents new objects and ideas by designers Konstantin Grcic and Naoto Fukasawa, architect Claudio Silvestrin and the photography duo of Scheltens & Abbenes.
